A Return to Ailsa

The epitome of persistence and a journeyman of golf, Stewart Cink claimed his first Major Championship victory under the summer sun in 2009. In a true reflection of Cink’s career, his consistent performance over a thrilling weekend of golf left him with a four-hole play-off against one of the game’s all-time greats, Tom Watson, a man with five Open Championship wins, including Turnberry in 1977. As the light of the 138th Open shone over the esteemed links of Turnberry, the Alabama native Cink battled against windy conditions on the nail-biting final day, clinching the coveted Claret Jug for the very first time.
