Trout Angling
Using their own rods or one of ours, guests can fish our 2.5-acre, spring-fed loch, stocked with rainbow and brown trout. Our ghillies share their impeccable local knowledge and help with technique.
Falconry
Indigenous to the Scottish lowlands, the Harris hawk and the owl are magnificent birds, and this introductory lesson provides practical experience in handling and flying both. Fundamental falconry skills, including how to tie the falconer’s knot and use the jesses, leash and swivel, are taught.
Clay Target Shooting
Our clay target shooting range suits a range of abilities, from utter novice to crack shot. An experienced guide instructs guests, and all necessary equipment is provided.
Rifle Target Shooting
Get to grips with the latest in recoilless, gas-operated rifles and aim at a range of specially-designed targets. Conducted by our experts, this is a great introduction to rifle shooting.
Pitch & Putt
Practice skills on this 12-hole, par-3 pitch-and-putt course, available to hotel guests free of charge. Clubs may be obtained through the concierge.
Walking Tours
Take a woodland walk on the acreage of the Turnberry Estate, feeding birds in this haven for local wildlife, or experience the beauty of Ayrshire and beyond through tours to a variety of locales.
Clydesdale Riding
Ride one of Turnberry’s handsome Clydesdale horses. These gentle giants can be taken for a leisurely stroll around the estate or for a run on Turnberry beach.
Mountain Biking
Mountain biking is one of the best ways to enjoy the great outdoors, and the hilly terrain around Turnberry is a biker’s paradise. Make the most of it on our exciting obstacle course.
Farm
Visit a nearby working farm that employs both traditional and modern agricultural techniques. At Little Turnberry, horses, sheep, dairy cattle, hogs, poultry and other animals can be observed at work and play.
Kids Club
Special activities designed with little ones in mind give children the times of their lives at Turnberry. The staff of our Buddy for the Day programme present the resort’s highlights through a variety of pastimes appealing to youth, such as meeting owls and mini-quadbiking. Pony rides begin with the basics of grooming and saddling; kite assembly and flying lessons end with a memento to take home. Walks on the estate are enlivened by feeding birds and counting teddy bears. In addition to supervised activities, we offer babysitting services upon request.
