Turnberry hosts top media to launch The Race to Dubai

Top golf journalists have descended on Turnberry to celebrate the start of The Race to Dubai, the competition that from next month will replace the long-standing European Tour Order of Merit. Co-hosted by The European Tour and Leisurecorp, the event provided UK and European golf journalists with updates on The Race to Dubai, The Dubai World Championship, Leisurecorp and The European Tour

In preparation of hosting the 138th Open Championship next year, and as one of the most iconic golf courses in the world of golf, there was no more fitting location to hold this event introducing the new exciting era in golf. Sergio Garcia was a surprise guest at the launch event and joined the journalists out on the Ailsa course before speaking in a press conference. As one of the leading ambassadors for The Race to Dubai, Sergio spoke about his thoughts of the new format, he said;

“Everybody I have talked to on both sides of the Atlantic is very positive about this development,” he continued “The Race to Dubai is great and will take The European Tour and European golf to a new level and where it is supposed to be. We are all very excited and looking forward to seeing how it goes.”
