The Colin Montgomerie Links Golf Academy
Turnberry, itself rich in the game’s heritage, has forged a partnership with one of the most celebrated golfers to ever come out of Scotland. Colin Montgomerie, whose most recent accomplishment is his appointment as European Ryder Cup captain for 2010, has based the Academy on a unique teaching proposition: rather than impose a whole new way of playing on students, nurture each individual’s ability and concentrate on one or two critical areas.
Quite unlike parkland courses, the waving sand dunes, deep bunkers and high bounce of links golf has its own set of challenges and requires its own set of skills. With state-of-the-art facilities, including driving and pitching ranges, covered bays, simulators and swing analysers, an audio visual theatre for group tuition, and the nine-hole Arran course at its disposal, the Academy can impart techniques that will knock a few strokes off scores—on the ambitious links of Turnberry and elsewhere.
