Outdoor Activities at Turnberry

Be sure to take full advantage of our Outdoor Activity Centre, where expert tuition and professional equipment will help you get the most out of every experience.

All the activities have been designed for both individuals and groups and we've made sure there's plenty to please the younger members of the family.

Cycling
Two wheels is always a great way to get a true sense of place so grab one of our mountain bikes and set off to explore the local terrain, or practice your best moves on our obstacle course.

Horse-riding
The centre has its own stables and as well as more usual horse and pony-riding activities you can take the chance to take one of our Clydesdales for a run on Turnberry beach.

Carriage Driving
Ever dreamed of driving a horse and cart? Gypsy the pony will show you how. With her patience and a little expert guidance you'll soon be driving confidently round the Turnberry estate. The ‘carriage' is an old-fashioned milk-cart and the experience is great fun for everyone in the family.

Falconry
Children in particular will love the regular demonstrations, and the older ones can learn falconry skills, including how to handle and fly owls and Harris Hawks.

Archery
The perfect complement to horse-riding and falconry. Learn the basics or take the opportunity to practice your existing skills.

4x4 Off-road Driving
Test your skills at the wheel of a Jeep Cherokee or Land Rover. A valid driving licence is required and passengers over 8 years may join you for the experience.

Quad biking
Our challenging course includes some tough terrain. Tuition, crash hats and overalls are all provided. (Over 16s only.)

Clay Target Shooting
Our clay target shooting range suits a range of abilities. Over 18 only.

Rifle Target Shooting
A great introduction to rifle shooting. Over [insert age] only.

Little Turnberry Farm
The estate has a working farm that employs both traditional and modern agricultural techniques. Horses, sheep, dairy cattle, hogs, poultry are all on view and many can be fed by hand.

Buddy for the day
Especially for the little ones, we present a child-friendly tour of Turnberry highlights. Activities on this fully-supervised programme can include mini-quadbiking, pony rides, kite-flying, bird-feeding and counting teddy bears! (Activities subject to availability)
